Alexandria Drunk Driving Defense Attorney
Arlington · Fairfax · Prince William · Loudoun
If you have been charged with DUI or driving under the influence in northern Virginia, there are a few things I would suggest immediately:
- Don't say anything to anyone
- Hire an experienced DUI lawyer
- Finally, don't ever get into a car again if you have alcohol on your breath
I'm Wayne Stover. As a criminal defense attorney and a former prosecutor, I have handled thousands of DUI cases from both sides of the courtroom. As a Fairfax city prosecutor, I guided the Fairfax City police in how to handle DUI cases. I also served as a guest lecturer for Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (VASAP) law enforcement training in the Battlefield region.
Today, I have dedicated my law practice to defending the rights of people charged with drunk driving offenses. With offices in Fairfax and Old Town Alexandria, I defend people charged with DUI or DWI throughout northern Virginia.
A Serious Charge in Virginia
Every jurisdiction in northern Virginia handles DUI cases slightly differently. However, drunk driving cases are always hotly prosecuted no matter where you are charged.
Even for a first DUI offense, you will lose your driver's license for a year if you are convicted (although you can apply for a restricted license). Your insurance rates may go up, as you will need SR22 high-risk insurance. You will also need to participate in the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP). Your blood alcohol content (BAC) may decide whether you have to go to jail. If your BAC is .15 or higher, a five-day jail sentence is mandatory, even for a first DUI conviction.
With consequences like these, you should put your case in the hands of a professional as soon as possible. For a free initial consultation by telephone, call 703-879-2174 or fill out the contact form on this website.
